Darla

In the fall of 2012, I was perusing the pages of PetFinder and saw this:

For those of you who knew my first dog Tigger, no explanation is needed. The rest of you can check out Tigger's page on the link below. Tigger was the best dog that ever lived. I know no dog can ever replace her, but Darla is trying damned hard.

Darla is a rescue. She is a Great Dane and Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. We think she is about 2 years old. She was found roaming the streets of Florence, Alabama, somewhat underweight. A rescue group called Critter Cavalry, based in Tennesse, pulled her from Animal Control and arranged for her to go to a foster home in Atkinson, NH. She spent 4 months in the loving care of a wonderful couple with a couple of other dogs and a baby on the way!

In late September, I drove down to meet Darla, and the rest is history. In mid-October, after the installation of new fencing in the yard, Darla came to live with me. I took a week of vacation to get to know her. She is sweet as can be, very well mannered most of the time and pretty much a happy camper. She plays well with people and other dogs and LOVES daycare. She has grown from lean 60 pounds she was when she came home to about 75 pounds now and looks great! I look forward to many years of Darla love!
